The Loomis Chaffee School, formed by the merger of the Loomis Institute (founded 1874) and the Chaffee School (founded 1926), is one of the premier coeducational boarding schools in the United States. Located in Windsor, Connecticut — America's oldest English settlement, founded in 1633 — Loomis Chaffee occupies a stunning 300-acre campus along the banks of the Connecticut River, approximately 10 miles north of Hartford and 25 miles north of New Haven.
The campus is one of the most beautiful of any New England boarding school. The Connecticut River forms the western boundary of the campus, and the school's boathouse and riverside trails create a setting of exceptional natural beauty. The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Campus Center, opened in recent years, serves as the social heart of the school.
