Choate Rosemary Hall, formed by the 1974 merger of the Choate School (founded 1890) and Rosemary Hall (founded 1890), is one of the leading coeducational boarding schools in the United States. Located in the historic town of Wallingford, Connecticut — midway between New Haven and Hartford — Choate occupies a beautiful 458-acre campus of Colonial and Georgian architecture, athletic fields, and woodland.
Choate enrolls approximately 900 students from 44 states and 44 countries, creating an exceptionally diverse international community. Approximately one-third of students come from outside the United States, making Choate one of the most globally diverse boarding schools in New England. Choate's most famous alumnus is John F. Kennedy, who attended the school in the 1930s. Yale University in New Haven is just 30 minutes south — and Choate students regularly visit Yale's library, museums, and performances. Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Windsor Locks is approximately 30–40 minutes from campus. Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) is approximately 25 minutes. From New York City, JFK is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, and Newark (EWR) approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
